The Key to Working Less and Making More Money Author Jake Ducey talks about the power of happiness in business and success.

By Entrepreneur Staff

Jake Ducey is a speaker, coach, author of three books and, just in case you don't feel inadequate yet, he's only 24 years old. His most recent book, Profit from Happiness, largely focuses on the importance of everyday interactions in relationships and business.

You could work longer hours and make a direct trade of time for money. But what if you could make more money in the same amount of time? In this video, Entrepreneur Network partner Joel Brown chats with Ducey to hear his answer to the dilemma.

Ducey contends that the key to maximizing time and money lies in the quality of the time you spend. For instance, making a small effort to have authentic interactions with employees, co-workers and supervisors does not take much time out of your work day. However, doing so will allow people to feel valued and heard, and they will be much more likely to follow your lead and believe in your cause. Not only does building relationships help your future work endeavors, but it will also satisfy the innate human desire to connect with others.

He advises to "become that irreplaceable energy: stop, smile, engage with people in an authentic way." Connecting with those around you is key to preventing yourself from devolving into the classic self-involved entrepreneur that Ducey almost became himself.
