Ace fashion photographer and producer Atul Kasbekar always maintains that audiences these days are looking for something fresh and honest. And hence, movies or TV shows with these two elements are likely to do well.

His first film 'Neerja'- starring Sonam Kapoor was directed by Ram Madhvani, who has been making phenomenal ad films for about three decades.

He said Madhvani was on the verge of making a film and Kasbekar felt glad that he was at the right time and the right place to make a movie like Neerja. Released in 2016, the critically and commercially acclaimed movie collected about INR 130 crores from the box office.

Post Neerja's release, even strangers have walked up to the movie producer to say that they have really liked the way the movie was made. Since then honest and freshness are the parameters that Kasbekar evaluates while reading a movie script.

"My second film, Tumhari Sulu, is a very middle-class story but there is certain freshness that I believe we have treated it with," he shared. Starring actress Vidya Balan, Tumarhari Sulu was released on November 17, 2017.

Additionally, Kasbekar said, "We are a platform where a bunch of people will come together and co-exist and create." And his only concern is creation.

At the sidelines of ASCENT Conclave in Mumbai, the producer claimed to have developed a working system carefully keeping the ego off the door.

Giving us an example, he said, "If Kumar, the coffee boy has a great idea, his team will embrace it and acknowledge him. On the other hand, if even the studio head has a rubbish idea and the director doesn't want to implement it, the latter has no obligation to do so."
