You're reading Entrepreneur Middle East, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media.

Staged in partnership with du, Against All Odds is an Entrepreneur Middle East Live webinar series that features enterprising women who have risen above personal and professional challenges to develop solutions, launch businesses, and lead global initiatives that make them inspirational role models around the world.

In this edition of Against All Odds, we speak with Radhika Gupta, CEO of Edelweiss AMC, one of India's largest mutual funds. Known for being the only female head of a major asset manager in India, Gupta (whose video of a talk she did called "The Girl With A Broken Neck" has had more than a million views on YouTube) was our pick for talking about what can be done to close the gender gap in leadership.

"The solution is to have more women join the industry, any industry," Gupta said. "I see that in my own company, because the minute you have more women in senior leadership, you automatically have more other women climb up the ladder too. Also, I don't believe in the myth that women don't like other women, that women don't support other women. Actually, I think that women go all the way to support other women. That is my own experience and what I have seen in corporate India. So, the solution is also women supporting women… And lastly, every woman can change the culture of the floor that she works on. In more male-dominated industries, having more women balances the culture and brings in more diversity, not only gender diversity, but other types of diversity as well."
