Bar Rescue's Jon Taffer on Why He's Such an Asshole There's a fine line between being aggressive and being a jerk. Taffer says he blurs this line by design.

Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.

If you've ever seen Jon Taffer on Spike's Bar Rescue, then you know the bar and restaurant management expert can at times be a bit outspoken. By outspoken, I mean he's aggressive. Oh whatever, I'll just say it: Jon Taffer can be an asshole.

Whether you're a business leader yourself or aspiring to be, it's safe to say we've all encountered an "asshole manager" at one point or another. On Bar Rescue -- episodes from the new season air Sundays at 10 p.m. ET -- Taffer helps desperate entrepreneurs turn around their failing bars and restaurants. As you can imagine, getting through to failing entrepreneurs isn't easy, and many of his interactions aren't pretty.

If you ask Taffer himself (I did, actually) he'll tell you there is a fine line between being aggressive and being a jerk. "I blur that line by design," Taffer says. "When I'm angry on TV, I'm actually not. I'm manipulating you as an owner."

To find out how and why Taffer goes into full-blown manipulative asshole mode, check out the short video above.
