Cloud accounting platform FreshBooks and payroll provider ZenPayroll are teaming up in a move that could make the lives of small business owners a little easier.

Under the new integration, business owners can link up their accounts so that any payroll expense, adjustment or cancellation in ZenPayroll will automatically show up in the FreshBooks accounting software. The move is designed to make it easier for employers to both pay employees and vendors and get paid by clients.

"By automating processes that previously required manual data entry, we're freeing people to focus on growing their small businesses, the lifeblood of our economy," said ZenPayroll CEO Joshua Reeves in a statement released Wednesday.

ZenPayroll, which launched in December 2012 as an alternative to big-name payroll processors ADP and PayChex, is backed by Google Ventures as well as the CEOs of Box, Yelp and Dropbox. The San Francisco-based company offers mobile and paperless payroll service features including the automated filling out of government documents and filing of payroll taxes.

Toronto-based FreshBooks, which provides cloud-based invoice and billing services, has a customer base of over 5 million users in 120 countries.
