School Says - General Information
Marymount is a comprehensive Catholic university located in Arlington, Virginia, just minutes from Washington, DC. More than 70 undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs are available through the Schools of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education and Human Services, and Health Professions.

Marymount's graduate programs are designed to expand knowledge and advance careers. Faculty advising, peer networking, and a cutting-edge education afford a wide array of professional opportunities. Business graduates take advantage of the many government, corporate, and technology organizations that thrive in the Washington, DC, region. Teachers are often employed immediately by the school systems where they student taught. Health professionals are in demand as nursing specialists, physical therapists, health promotion experts, and health industry managers in settings that include hospitals, community health agencies, and corporations. In the psychology field, Marymount graduates of programs in Community, Pastoral, and School Counseling, as well as Forensic Psychology, are highly regarded. Interior Design graduates find work in large firms and on their own. For those focusing on Humanities or Literature and Language, understanding is enriched and informs every endeavor undertaken.

Full and part-time study is available, with an emphasis placed on evening and Saturday classes convenient for the working professional. Classes are small and taught by expert faculty members with "real world" experience, who work closely with students to help them achieve their individual educational and professional goals.

Marymount's graduate enrollment is predominantly part-time, although full-time study is available (required for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program). Most graduate students are between the ages of 26 and 50.

School of Arts and Sciences: Computer Science (M.S.) with tracks in Computer Security and Telecommunications and in Software Engineering; Humanities (M.A.); Interior Design (M.A.) and Literature and Language (M.A.)

School of Business Administration: Business Administration (M.B.A.); Health Care Management (M.S.); Human Resource Management (M.A.) Information Systems (M.S.), Legal Administration (M.A.) and Management (M.S.)

School of Education and Human Services: Master of Education (M.Ed) with licensure programs in Elementary Education, English as a Second Language, Learning Disabilities, Secondary Education and non-licensure programs in Catholic School Leadership and Professional Studies. The University also offers master's degrees in Community Counseling (M.A.) Forensic Psychology (M.A.), Pastoral Counseling (M.A.), Pastoral and Spiritual Care (M.A.) and School Counseling (M.A.)

School of Health Professions: Health Promotion Management (M.S.); Nursing (M.S.N) in Family Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Education, and Health Administration; and a doctorate in Physical Therapy (D.P.T.)

Graduate certificates are available in many of these disciplines.

Eighty-six percent of Marymount's full-time faculty have terminal degrees and those who teach at the graduate level are also practitioners in their field.


School Says - Admissions
Students are admitted on a full- or a part-time basis for the September and January semesters and for the summer sessions. All applicants must submit a application with a $35 fee, transcripts of postsecondary work and two letters of recommendation. Most programs also require standardized tests and interviews. School Says - Campus Life
Graduate programs are offered on Marymount's Main Campus and Ballston Center, both located in Arlington, Virginia. They are convenient to Route 66, and the Washington, DC, Metro System. A Reston Center in western Fairfax County opens in fall 2006. The University's proximity to the nation's capital provides countless cultural and research resources, as well as professional opportunities.


School Says - Cost Aid
Graduate tuition is $620 per credit hour. Tuition for the full-time physical therapy program is $20,900. Each term students will be assessed $6 per credit up to a maximum of $72 as a fee to support computer enhancement.

Financial aid is available through graduate assistantships, loans, and several program-specific scholarships (including a National Science Foundation service scholarship to study computer security). The Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (TAG) is available to Virginia residents.
