School Says - General Information
Founded in 1952, Adler School of Professional Psychology is the oldest independent school of Psychology in the United States. The School is named after Alfred Adler (1870-1937), the first community psychologist, whose theories and teachings of psychology emphasize the uniqueness of every individual's relationship and connection with society. Adler School is committed to continuing the work of Alfred Adler by producing socially responsible graduates, by providing holistic services to individuals and communities, and by promoting social justice.

Adler School's commitment to social responsibility draws students from all over the world who wish to study in a collaborative atmosphere with accomplished clinical faculty. The school attracts both recent college graduates and working professionals and offers significant cultural diversity by attracting the best students the world has to offer.

The Adler School's most recent commitment, the Adler Institute on Social Exclusion, is the first of three planned Adler Institutes for Social Change. Established in October 2005, its purpose is to promote social justice. Its work is research, public education, and community outreach around the issue of social exclusion—a process by which certain individuals or groups are unable to access resources, entitlements, and powers that are available to the majority of people.

The Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of the American Psychological Association (APA) (750 First Street, NE, Washington, DC 20002-4242, 202-336-5510, www.apa.org/ed/accreditation).
