Counter Culture Coffee opens New York regional training center.(Trade News)

Located at 37 West 26th St., Suite 400, in the Chelsea area of Manhattan, the center will serve as a regional focal point for Counter Culture's cutting-edge coffee education and training curriculum for coffee and food professionals as well as home coffee enthusiasts. In addition, the training center will be open to the public every Friday for a weekly coffee "cupping," an expert-led exercise in tasting and evaluating coffee akin to a wine tasting.

"We're extremely excited about the opening of our New York training center, as it enables us to provide our customers with the exceptionally high levels of service and education that are at the core of our business model," said Counter Culture president and co-founder Brett Smith.

Counter Culture's education and training program includes a variety of labs, classes, seminars and community events led by the organization's team of experienced coffee experts. Regional training centers in Asheville, NC; Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Durham, NC; New York City and Washington, DC, offer coffee education courses including beginning espresso, intermediate espresso, coffee extraction, comparative cupping, cupping leadership, milk chemistry and history, botany & trading. In addition, Counter Culture class participants can earn Counter Culture Coffee steward and barista certifications by completing respective curricula and hands-on skill examinations.

"We hope that our training center will not only become a valuable and useful coffee education resource for New York's food and beverage professionals, but also an accessible hub of knowledge and community for everyone," said Peter Giuliano, Counter Culture's director of coffee and co-owner. "In the past few years alone, we've seen incredible growth in the number of dedicated, passionate coffee professionals in New York. Our ever-evolving, state-of-the-art coffee education curriculum is tailor made to help nurture and sustain such growth."
