At the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival 2018's Startup Town, Entrepreneur Middle East chats with a graduate from Intelak's incubator program Yadhushan Mahendran, founder and CEO of The Concept, a startup seeking to improve inflight customer experience in the aviation industry.

As startup founders who have started working on their idea immediately after their university years, Mahendran and his co-founder found joining an incubator, such as Intelak and Sheraa, as a "mini MBA" since it gave them the boost they needed with industry know-how, in addition allowing them to meet and learn from mentors in the industry, some of whom are today a part of the startup's board of advisors. Mahedran credits the UAE's incubators for helping them them to "take an idea to a business, monetize it and scale upwards."

Mahendran emphasizes the importance of entrepreneurs focuing on their strengths and seeking for support when they need it. "Ask for help, look for help, but begin with the right foundation and the right team so that you have the strength all round," he said.

Organized by Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center, Sheraa, the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SharjahEF) 2018 gathered more than 3,000 attendees, consisting of youth, entrepreneurs, government partners, investors and industry veterans. The two-day event featured more than 100 prominent local, regional and international speakers.
