3 Ways to Stay Motivated When things get tough, look to these three tips.

By Nina Zipkin

When you're building your business, there are going to be times when you feel like you have absolutely no idea what you're doing. Instead of losing your confidence and giving up, here are three ways to keep motivated.

1. Reach out to friends and colleagues. When you hit a rough patch, your first inclination may be to keep your head down until everything is sorted out. But talking with peers, your advisors or fellow business leaders can give you some clarity.

2. Take a step back. Sometimes you just need to give yourself a break. Put work on the backburner for a minute and recharge -- see your family, get outside or watch a movie. You can't make any changes if you're too stressed to see straight.

3. Revise your to-do list. If the big goal you want to accomplish seems out of reach, focus on some smaller wins like landing one new client instead of five.
