Welcome everyone to the "Entrepreneur Show", as we have special guest, Dave Asprey, who is known as the father of biohacking and is famous for creating bulletproof coffee and hosting the Bulletproof Radio show, which has now been renamed as the Human Upgrade Podcast. He has made significant changes in his life, losing over 100 pounds and reversing his age by more than 20 years through biohacking. As a successful entrepreneur, he has written bestselling books and created billion-dollar consumer product goods categories such as MCT oil and collagen protein. Dave has also founded a new functional coffee company called Danger Coffee. He openly discusses various topics, including health, consciousness, and psychedelics, and shares his personal journey from struggling with health issues to achieving success through hard work and dedication. So, what is biohacking? Biohacking is the practice of actively changing your environment and biology to take full control of your health and well-being. This includes managing your health, slowing down the aging process, and achieving mental peace by optimizing your body's energy production through environmental adjustments. Dave shared his personal experience of hitting rock bottom despite his professional success. He recounted a moment when his cognitive function was declining. This realization led him to explore smart drugs and nootropics, as well as seek guidance from longevity doctors. Despite his successful tech career, he ventured into blogging and founded a Consumer Packaged Goods company. Asprey's journey is a testament to addressing personal health and well-being even amid professional success while focusing on wellness and redefining longevity and health. Dave highlights the shift in perspective towards health, emphasizing the significance of having control over one's biology and energy. Health should be a priority, especially for entrepreneurs, as it directly impacts their ability to care for their families and pursue their missions. And, of course, taking care of one's health is essential for preventing illness in the future.  What started this all? Well, during his studies of meditation in Tibet, he discovered that people often underestimate the importance of prioritizing longevity and health. Ignoring these aspects means operating at only half of one's potential. We discussed using marketing to persuade people of the immediate benefits of prioritizing health and longevity, especially for entrepreneurs. It's about being more present and having more energy in the present moment. Reprogramming all the emotional triggers is possible, but why not regain your energy first? Stop expending energy on thinking about food and dwelling on grudges. Once you've accomplished that, you'll realize that things that seem like major obstacles aren't as daunting. This is an important, cutting-edge strategy for entrepreneurs aiming to build billion-dollar businesses. Dave also launched an innovative brain upgrade program known as 40 Years of Zen. This program utilizes EEG neurofeedback to reprogram the brains of entrepreneurs, athletes, and celebrities, aiming to enhance their cognitive abilities. Additionally, he created, Upgrade Labs, which is a company that provides biohacking services, leveraging data and technology to optimize health and performance. For more information, you can visit dangercoffee.com, 40yearsofzen.com, and ownandupgradelabs.com. If you're interested in attending the upcoming biohacking conference in May in Austin, TX, you can find further details at biohackingconference.com. The CEO Series, a standout video series, is the brainchild of William Salvi, a Renowned media agency owner based in Chicago. This Emmy award-winning show stands out for its exceptional quality and its unique focus on CEOs from diverse industries. William, along with his brother Chris, initiated the series seven years ago, and for the past four years, they have been delving into the stories, roles, and mindsets of CEOs. The series kicked off with an interview with the chairman and CEO of Wintrust Bank, and since then, it has evolved, with the team constantly enhancing their interviewing techniques and the caliber of guests. The show's distinct goal is to unveil the person behind the role and brand, offering viewers a rare glimpse into the human side of business leadership often overshadowed in formal interviews.  The CEO Series remains industry-agnostic but focuses on the CEOs' unique experiences and perspectives as leaders of large organizations with many stakeholders. The show's producer and host discuss the pressure CEOs face, which can cause some of them to become reclusive, seeking honest feedback rather than flattery.  The CEOs featured in the show share the formative experiences that shaped them as leaders during their youth or teens. The CEO Series is an Emmy award-winning video series available on entrepreneur.com, giving successful leaders a platform to share their experiences with the world.  His brother Chris and he loves interviewing prominent business individuals for our CEO series. We aim for higher-profile CEOs and brands. It's exciting to meet and talk to these people as we get to know them as individuals with their insecurities and life experiences. We challenge ourselves daily by putting ourselves in uncomfortable positions, such as meeting high-profile CEOs. It's a great way to expand our agency and network of contacts. David Nurse is an accomplished mindset specialist and a bestselling author at the Wall Street Journal. Over the past 15 years, he has worked with sports teams and corporate executives, assisting them in dominating their respective fields. David has positively impacted the lives of over 150 NBA players, whose contract earnings total a staggering $3.2 billion. He believes that highly successful people can be classified into two categories—those who value honesty and those who do not. David's expertise lies in his profound understanding of the power of the mind and how it can be used as a cheat code for success. He provides mindset tools that help individuals overcome insecurities, deal with pressure, and utilize their gifts without internal or external roadblocks. He has designed these tools to help individuals take strategic action and realize their full potential. At the Next Level Club, David works with people to help them unlock their mind's potential and achieve their goals. With his constructive guidance and mindset tools, he empowers individuals to confidently reach the next level of their abilities and pursue their dreams.  There are nine action archetypes: fear of other people's opinions, inopportune, blame, test believer, distracted, scarcity mindset, perfectionist, underestimate, and imposter syndrome. To combat self-doubt, try these three tools: First, look at your hands and remember all the difficulties you've overcome. Second, remind yourself to serve others in the present moment. Finally, snap your fingers to cue your subconscious to live into the person you want to be. Remember to stop, notice, assess, and pivot when things get overwhelming. These tools can be used anytime, anywhere. [00:00:00] The CEO Series [00:06:45] William Salvi [00:13:01] CEOs are Humans too!  Alan welcomes Jonathan Beskin, a serial entrepreneur and bestselling author of "The Least Likely Millionaire." The book tells the story of how Jonathan overcame crippling anxiety, toxic parenting, and a total lack of support to start and build a wildly successful company, despite everyone telling him his ideas would never work and that he would be a failure. The book is a triumphant memoir highlighting Jonathan's journey, including the ups and downs, and providing actionable advice to help other entrepreneurs.  Jonathan also owns Singlesswag.com, worth 80 million dollars in subscription boxes. Aspiring entrepreneurs overcoming challenging obstacles can hopefully find inspiration in his story and become "least likely millionaires." During the interview, Alan asks Jonathan about three points of success. The first point is the concept of healthy obsession and how one can channel negative experiences into positive energy. Alan welcomes Raj Jana, the CEO of Liber8. Liber8 is a company that develops programs to help people overcome emotional and childhood trauma, as well as any limiting beliefs that prevent them from living a meaningful and authentic life. The company's mission is to remove any barriers that may be stopping people from achieving the things they desire. Raj shares his personal experience of burnout while building his first company in 2019, at the age of 27. He worked tirelessly, hustling day and night, until he reached his breaking point. He realized that his need to prove himself, his obsession with making money, and his constant busyness were all rooted in trauma. He understood that if he was living his purpose, he wouldn't have been burned out. Instead, he would have felt more alive. After selling his company, Raj faced even more challenges. He felt purposeless and lost, and his relationships were in shambles. He realized that he needed to work on himself and his relationships. He had to address his trauma with being vulnerable and intimate in partnerships. He had to learn how to connect and be seen. Raj's experience was both liberating and a trap. He had the resources to address his issues, but he also felt lost and directionless. Raj's story is a reminder that success doesn't always bring happiness and that it's essential to work on oneself, both personally and professionally. Raj Jana emphasizes the importance of having a clear vision for your company, which includes how much money you're making, how your customers feel, what your products are, and what your brand is. By inspiring people with a vision, you can get talent to show up in ways that no paycheck will.  Another important tip from Raj is to empower your team by delegating tasks. Remember that a 90 is still an A, so relax your standards and delegate to open up your capacity for more support. This is the ultimate entrepreneurial journey – letting go of control. Her business, which previously offered corporate massages to promote employee well-being, was facing closure due to the pandemic in 2020. However, instead of allowing her business to disappear, Amelia took a different approach. She discovered that employees had real problems that required real solutions, which she needed to be equipped to handle alone. This realization led her to transform her corporate massage platform into an all-around mental health and well-being platform for everyone. During this period, Amelia also noticed her oldest daughter struggling with her mental health. As she embarked on a journey to find her daughter the help she needed, Amelia gathered the resources for a holistic approach to mental health. This approach supports people at every stage of their mental health journey, from corporate massages to various forms of therapy. Amelia encapsulated her success into three main points for entrepreneurial listeners. Firstly, she advises improving leadership skills and delegation to scale the company. Secondly, she emphasizes the importance of mentors and networking, believing that having mentors who are experts in their field is crucial for success. Lastly, Amelia talks about the significance of focus. Matt Swider is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of TheShortcut.com. He served as Tech Radar's editor-in-chief for nine years and has over a million Twitter followers. Utilizing his skill set and followers, he created his own business, TheShortcut.com, which provides consumers with information on how, where, and when to find the technology they seek. The Shortcut is currently the #1 consumer tech publication on Substack. With the Consumer Electronics Show just around the corner, Matt and Alan are preparing to attend. During their discussions, they ponder about the advancements in Artificial Intelligence and the concerns that come with it. AI has rapidly improved and has become both exciting and frightening at the same time. Matt believes that we, as people, are contributing to its growth by funding its development. AI has eliminated the need for experts in some fields, as your phone or device can perform tasks for you. The Metaverse, the next evolution in social connection, is the successor to the mobile internet. However, the Deepfake, synthetic media that can convincingly replace one person's likeness with another, is already knocking at our doorsteps. What's currently trending on TheShortcut.com? Gaming is a hot topic these days. Soon, you might not require a PS5 or XBOX to enjoy your favorite games. With just a chip, you can buy accessories for your iPhone and play games on the go.   Matt, an entrepreneur in his industry, suggests that building a portfolio and writing your own substack could be a great way to showcase your talents. He even goes as far as to say that he would be envious if you had content he could feature on his website. It's a good idea to start with freelancing if you're new to the industry. Technology is constantly evolving, and its end product is unknown. Should we fear or embrace this? Derral Eves, the Executive Producer and Co-Founder of "The Chosen" TV series, was recently welcomed by Entrepreneur. During the interview, he shared his passion for entrepreneurship and his goal of creating an audience that would appreciate like-minded films. He emphasized the importance of engaging the audience and creating shareable, intentional content that defines the brand. Derral's vision was to translate his mission and purpose into the TV show, with the audience being the top priority. He believed that the viewers' engagement could become a social army that would promote the show and become an engine for its success.  Derral started his journey in the agency in 1999, where he helped businesses be found online. He had a passion for creating commercials from a young age, but his path led him to YouTube, where he learned about embedding videos onto websites. He then began creating commercial content for over 800 clients, utilizing YouTube for web design. He eventually shifted his focus to creating content on YouTube that people would talk about, resulting in over 91 billion views of content he made. Derral's mission is to help other entrepreneurs leverage the creator economy before losing the opportunity. He is hosting the Vid Summit in October, which is the business side of the creator economy for content creators who post anywhere online. It is a platform to help budding entrepreneurs with content as a part of their strategy and to help them leverage the opportunity.  Next Entrepreneur recently featured Seth Taylor, Chief Experience Officer at Angel Studios. Angel Studios was founded by the Harmond brothers, who created a content filtering service that allows users to remove inappropriate content from existing movies. However, they realized that producing new content and telling stories could be a more effective way to engage audiences. To raise funds, Angel Studios employs a "pay it forward" approach, wherein people can purchase tickets for others to watch their programs and movies. The Chosen was originally behind a paywall, but its popularity made it available to a larger audience through monetary donations that allowed others to stream it. Angel Studios collaborates with its audience through its crowd-sourced program, The Gild, which asks two questions: Does the story amplify light, and how disappointed would you be if this film was not made? Feedback and comments from the audience are used to create new content. Angel Studios is a platform that promotes stories of light and also offers collectibles to those who have crowd-funded. These collectibles provide digital ownership of a particular frame from a favorite scene, allowing users to share why they chose that scene and what it means. As Chief Experience Officer, Seth Taylor helps the product team to market their app and reach a wider audience. Alan welcomes the CEO of RELEVE, Dawn Dahlby, author of Live Wellthy.  As a certified financial planner, Dawn says money is but a tool.  A tool that is defined and controlled by one's behavior.  Many of us live in fear of not having enough money, and or not being enough as human beings.  Dawn teaches how to master your mind and your money.  In her book Live Wellthy, she focuses on three key factors: Own It, Earn It, and Grow It.  Own it, is where you learn to own all that is, core values, weaknesses, and learning how to discover and utilize your strengths.  Earn It, is nothing but everything to do with money.  Earning the right income and outcome.  And lastly, Grow It, are the how-tos in comprehensive financial planning.  Maximizing your performance and mastering your mind and money.   Up next is Dr. Alok Treveti, a.k.a. Dr. Rewire.  Dr. Treveti started his journey at the age of 26 as a chiropractor.  A very successful one at that.  However, through his patients, he discovered how they shared similar ailments, which caused them to come in around the same time every month.  That piqued his interest to dig deeper to see the root of the problem.  Before treatment, he would sit down with his clients and talk with them, to get them to open up.  Through questioning, he was able to rewire his client's brains to help alleviate the aches and pains at least by 70%, without an adjustment.   He realized that there was a neurological connection between stress, depression, and anxiety and the aches and pains that brought his clients in for an adjustment.  Mind over matter, in other words, master your mind, make your money, and have abundant health.  Dr. Rewire says fear is the enemy that keeps you from moving forward.   However, he has come up with a formula that will help you overcome that with four easy steps.  One, figure out what the fear is.  Two, if your fear becomes reality, what would be the positives or benefits to your life?  Three, if it didn't happen, what would be the drawback?  And four, can you be grateful if it happens or not?  If you rebalance your brain and face your fear, it takes away its power.  Fear is a future emotion, and if you can eliminate its power over you by using Dr. Rewires formula, your journey to success is but a stone throw away.   [00:00:00] Live WELLthy [00:05:54] Empowerment [00:13:00] Own It, Earn It, Grow It [00:20:50] Antidote for Entrepreneurs [00:31:02] Overcoming Resentment [00:37:06] Formula for Fear Learn more about your ad choices. As the world turns, entrepreneurs are flourishing.  Joining Alan this week is Jason Brown, founder and CEO of Family Central.  Jason started building chains of retail stores until 1999 when he dove into the digital world and started building digitally native businesses.  Though he was successful in building new companies, he also experienced failure.  As the world was changing with so were the consumers and that caused a ripple affect.  However he was given an opportunity to which he and his team spent 4 years building and running a multi million dollar immigration company which helped men and women and their families in foreign countries move to the United Sates.  He helped them make a financial investment and establish their green card.  He then went on to create Persona Nutrition, a personalized nutrition business where you go online, receive free coaching, and get a customized nutrition program of vitamins, minerals, herbs and supplements.  Later this company was sold to Nestle Health Science in 2019.  From there he and his team created Family Central, a depository of information that allows communication of your family, cradle to grave.  It empowers your family to be in a secure environment where they can store all kinds of documents such as medical records, ID's, immunization cards, and share with other members, or to be put into a secure vault.  Family Central is helps with global family stress that is caused by chaos.  With the leveraged technology by using Cloud Based tech, it empowers family at their fingertips.  Another feature they offer are Legacy videos, which allows a family member to make a video recording for their loved ones which can be used to say, goodbye, I Love You, or how to handle their assets after they are gone.  Jason was asked to give one sound advice to up and coming entrepreneurs.  Follow your passion, find what makes you happy, focus on it, and surround yourself with people who are much smarter than you to make it happen. Up next is Simon Leslie, CEO of Ink, author and motivational poet.  Simon wrote a book called, Equanimity, which basically he describes as remaining calm under pressure.  Simon has faced many failures and changes but through his book, he found his way back.  The book focuses on 52 interviews with messages that resonated with him and later turned into a support line for him.  Powerful messages from kindness, gratitude, health & wellbeing, negotiating, selling, and brain power.  However through the writing of the book he realized that he was a broken human a complete mess.  Yet here he is writing a book on how to live a better life.  So decided to make the second half about his turn around and what he has learned through these interviews that impacted his life.  Alan asked Simon which interviews touched his heart?  The first to come to mind is, Allison Levine, American woman you climbed Mount Everest, and crossed Antarctica.   Her story of determination and her attitude of never say never resonated with Simon.  She just kept putting one foot in front of the other and for Simon, that became his mantra.  There were a few other stories from Adrienne Banker, who spoke of kindness, to Tim Grover who coached Michael Jordan, delivering a power message about having a winning mindset.  So what advice would Simon give, "One foot in front of the other, pay it forward, meditate and be more conscious." Alan welcomes Liam Martin - Co-Founder and CMO of Time Doctor, Co-organizer of Running Remote Conference and Co-author of Running Remote Book.  Alan starts the show by sharing how as an entrepreneur the need to control everything comes with the territory, yet at the same time he believes the best work comes from an employee that is able to be motivated and inspired with no time stamp.  Lian says that working remote changed dramatically during COVID.  He explains that a new group of workers merged onto the scene that he calls, Pandemic Panickers.  Liam believes its the largest shift in work since the Industrial Revolution.  With the new fundamental change of how work is done remote, he reminds us that it isn't a place.  It doesn't matter where you work as long as you get it done.  Asynchronous! Liam exclaims is the key along with autonomy.  Not having to directly interact with people by working through a communication system allows an individual to work remote and to have maximum freedom in your life.  Discipline equals freedom.  Freedom allows your people to work on more difficult problems.  To solve really unique difficult issues that move a business forward.  Bureaucracy!  No micromanaging...says Liam.  He goes onto explain the fundamental of a remote business.  1.  Set of processes, creating digital information that can be shared.  2.  Don't have positions, become the operators.  Delegate responsibility.  3.  Automate all of the reporting.  Have the same information available to the employees as the CEO so everyone is on the same page.  Lastly Liam shares the common mistakes of remote business owners.  Don't make working from home turn into living at work.  Divide social space from work space.  Stop requiring or asking for immediacy, it speeds you up but slows the company down, and lastly have team members tied into the same goal. Entrepreneurs are gonna take over the world!  Alan welcomes Rohan Sheth - Founder of GrowRev.com  Rohan shares how he came into this world with a Golden spoon only to have it gone in a blink of an eye.  Having to move to Canada as a young lad with his parents to start over, he quickly adapted and advanced in the assembly of a fast food chain.  Rohan was offered the keys to the kingdom and denied it for he knew running a fast food chain was not what he was put on earth for.  He then took on a door to door sales position and excelled in that area all the while going to school to become a pilot.  Still that is not what he desired to do or in other words, Rohan was bored.   Eventually the skillset he developed in sales exploded into a whole new world when he founded GrowRev.  It's a direct response paid advertising agency.  His company helps other companies grow their revenue.  Alan asked what are three things he would share with upcoming entrepreneurs?  One, believe in yourself no matter how hard it gets.  Two, when you develop and know your skillset, bring it to the world.  And three, share your story.   Up next is Jeff Hunter - Founder of Crypto Gaming Team.  Alan asks Jeff to break it down for everyone.  What is crypto?  It is a form of decentralized finance.  No bank controls your money, but the consequence is when you lose it, you lose it.  It's all about being able to take your currency and give it to someone else.  No middle man in between.  It's about belief and trust, it's a culture coin.  He said he developed Crypto gaming to you are able to take your tokens from one place to another and even turn them into real money.  His hopes is that this will eventually solve world poverty.  Jeff says it's a Metaverse that gives you the ability to move digital assets from one place to another.  You are in control of your money not the banks! Alan welcomes James Lawrence, Guinness Book of World Record Breaker and family man.  Author of "Redefined Impossible".  In 2015 he did 50 triathlons, in 50 days, through 50 states.  Why?  He wanted to know his personal limits.  When you reach on mountain top and you see another you want to conquer that one.  Alan asked how he got the name, "Iron Cowboy".  James explained that everything he did was a team effort with his family.  He wanted to stand out amongst the stream of athletes so he started wearing a cowboy hat.  It allowed his family to find him in the race.  James continued on about his journey starting in Hawaii to Alaska, and ended in Utah.  Each race required it to be completed within 17 hours.  James shares in order to achieve greatness, help everyone else around you achieve greatness and you will be at the mountain top with them.  What did you learn about yourself?, asked Alan.  As humans, we are getting in our own way.  We are out toughest critics.  One of the hardest thing to do is to start.  Believe in yourself and surround yourself with positive people.  Next James doubled the impossible by doing 100 Ironman Triathlons in 100 days.  Each race consisted of 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 miles of running.  From March 1 through June 8th with no days off.  14000 miles and raised $500kl for "Operation Underground", to eradicate human sex trafficking.  What's next for the Iron Cowboy?  In January his company will be releasing a Fitness app for general fitness, a Mindset program for life principles and a 60 day triathlon challenge for beginners to the experiences.  James shares that he wants to give hope and experience on peoples journey, to help them achieve their dream. Alan is joined by Amanda Holmes - CEO of Chet Holmes International.  She is a second-generation business owner.  Her father wrote a bestselling book titled, “The Ultimate Sales Machine. Immediately Alan dives into wanting to know how to increase one’s sales for the upcoming year.  Amanda gracefully turns it around and offers, 3 things holding you back? First, it’s people! Because of COVID, people were able to sit and think with themselves and realized they weren’t happy where they were at in their jobs.  Which leads to, Skill Set!  The people you are hiring. The Belief Driven Employee!  The Pay, The Career Advancement, and How are you showing your commitment to do positive things while creating an environment of flexibility and remote options.  Employees want to feel they are taken care of, that they are doing something positive for society.   Secondly, it’s the Shiny Object Syndrome!  Average consumer spends 10 hours a day on media platforms.  Proactive vs. Reactive.  How can you truly stay focused on anything if you're constantly being sidetracked?  Finally, leadership.  Different levels of growth start from the leader.  Having systems in place. Amanda then entices us with 4 out of 6 things that having in place allows you to be proactive.  1.  Touch it once! 2.  List off the top 6 things you need to do.  3.  Allocate the time needed to complete them and 4. Prioritize by putting into your schedule.  Alan ends the show with a heartfelt question, how do you live a rich and full life?  Amanda’s answer, Your Intention. In service, gratitude, and humbleness.  To enjoy the fruits of the labor.   [00:00:00] 2nd Generation Business [00:06:22] Skill Set [00:11:30] Shiny Object Syndrome [00:18:52] Levels of Growth [00:26:28] Prioritize Your Time [00:33:53] Rich and Full Life Learn more about your ad choices. Alan welcomes Roy Sharples  - President, CEO & Founder of Unknown Origins.  Alan inquires about the statement “Philosophy starts in the Bedroom”.  Roy explains in the bedroom is where you as a child dealt with imagination and wonder.  The more you go through life and are able to retain the childlike wonder, helps keep you creative.  Power of creativity.  Picasso always believed that children are artists.  Alan asked, "Who is Roy?"  Roy is on a mission to save the world from unoriginality and unleashing creative power.  Bringing new products and services to market.  My creativity is the ability to make the invisible visible by taking what is not and creating what is.  And it manifests.  Embracing originality and making unique connections.  To light the way into the future.  Channel your passion and energy into creativity.  To create meaningful outcomes for the future.  Self Actualization.  To leave the world in a better place. Creativity…How does a person tap into those unknown origins?  Creativity exists in everyone.  Address it holistically. 5 principles- Imagination, innovations, esthetics, entrepreneurship, and manifestation.  Imagination - create and make new things about seeing the unseen, navigating the journey by invoking magic and delight. Turning your imagination into art.  Innovation - experimenting with technology.  Cross pollinate across multiple practices.  Esthetics - ability to blend art and science with excellence with your crafts.  Inspiration and culture.  Entrepreneur - ability to fearlessly lead to the invisible horizons to be productive and resilient.  Manifestation - breakthrough conventional values, manifest what’s in you and what’s around you and turn that into something creative.  Dream, Make, and Do.  Dream - Envisioning  Make - Using convergent thinking, and construct to bring to light  Do - Fine Tune, Bringing it to life.   Alans next guest is Danielle Cohn - Vice President of Start-Up Engagement and Head of Comcast NBC Universal.  Powered by TechStars.  What is Start-Up?  We sit within the strategic development team.  Early lens for future growth areas.  Bringing together leaders from across the company, work side by side strategically aligned global start ups.  To drive a startup mindset back into our already innovative teams, develop startup partnerships at the earliest stage to enhance customer and employee lives, make an impact in the startup communities.  Spot early disruptions, emerging technologies and platforms.  Alan says you're always looking for the next big thing.  In the world we are living in today, things are changing at such a rapid rate. Danielle says they are founder focus.  Content platforms are what they search for.   Talking to founders all around the world. They focus on the most important outcomes that drive results.  Networking and communication.  Business development.  Comcast is an investment company.  Mentors that spend a lot of time with the companies to develop their businesses. Alan welcomes long time friend and entrepreneur, Marcus Lemonis - CEO of Camping World, Television Personality, and Philanthropist.  Marcus begins with evolution.  The twist and turns through the journey of life.  From good to bad, we change.  We change our logic to our looks.  Without change and or if you don't acknowledge change, you end up on a dead end street.  Alan shares that the best website he has been on is MarcusLemonis.com.  A powerhouse of information, and the best part it is free.  Marcus believes education should be free.  Alan asks Marcus what he learned from this pandemic.  Marcus responds that he learned what he needed to shed himself of.  It also allowed him to see what kind of people he is working with and their level of commitment.  Marcus talks about being an agent of change.  To be able to be vulnerable and expose yourself.  Willing to take the beating, the criticism, while you hold onto your convictions.  Be open minded.  As information and technology is changing, you must ask yourself it there is a different way, a better way to do something.  Alan talks about the "trolls" of social media and their hatred.  He asks Marcus how he deals with them.  He says to be mindful of the message and or lesson you are trying to spread.  Stay professional and direct.  Take a breath, and think about how to answer.  Allow them to explain themselves.  Usually softness and professionalism deactivates the hate.  But if you made a mistake or said something you shouldn't have, own up to it.  Lastly Alan asks Marcus to share at few pillars of his success.  Marcus said he has quite a few,  but these 5 are his top.  1.  Reminding ourselves why people are at the center of our business.  Employee recognition.  Find people that will make our business better.  2.  Understanding your financial statements.  3.  Recognize what you're good at, but most importantly what you're not good at.  Own your deficiencies.  4.  Don't keep your family in the dark about your business.  No surprises. 5.  Recognize if you may be the problem.  Own up to it, and evolve. Joining Alan on the “steppingstone of wisdom”, is Glenn Stearns, Entrepreneur, Mentor, Podcaster, Philanthropist, and star of “Undercover Billionaire”. Glenn shares his journey as to how he got to be where he is today. Growing up with humble roots, he wanted more and so he and his friend packed it up and traveled to California. It was there he started his mortgage business. From a mortgage business to a Title Company, onto becoming the Lender.  Glenn shares that he failed and fell many of times before finding success. He had a pivoting point in 2007 when things came crashing down. However, he didn’t give up. He owed a lot of money to a lot of people. He decided to get on a plane and visit every single person he owed money to and said, “let’s fix this”, and he did. He became the largest Lender in America shortly after. As he is on top of the world, he finds out he had throat cancer. So, he took some time off to heal and be with his family. In 2014 he sold 70% of his company. In 2019 he came back and opened “Kind Lending”. Glenn then was challenged with an opportunity to show the world how to start a business from ground up with nothing but a cell phone and $100. He said, put me anywhere in the country with no money and no contacts and I can make it happen again. Undercover Billionaire was born. Glenn shares that he felt for a moment that he was going to be a colossal failure in front of the world as he did the show. But the show turned out to be a smashing hit. Every time he got into a deep hole; he gets himself out because he doesn’t give up. The show became an inspiration to many and the outpour he received from around the world made it worthwhile.  Alan talks about his struggle as an entrepreneur, and the failure he faced. It took him to realize that to win you must lose, sometimes lose it all. Advice from Glenn. It’s a crazy time. In business you're always going to find that it doesn't always go the way you plan it. The world may be against you, from weather to industry changes, even political. Be prepared for change. Reality is that while we are trying to create ourselves, we need to be authentic. Surround yourself with the right people. Having the authentic ability to connect to your people. Having integrity and doing it right. From Karma to planting seeds. Whether good or bad, eventually you will find out what you planted. Work hard and be authentic. Joining Alan today is his new friend, Sam Malouf -  Co-Founder of Malouf Co. and The Malouf Foundation.  Sam shares that the real engine of his company is the people.  You can't do it all nor do you know it all.  Getting the right people to work for you and with you makes a big difference in the success of your company.  His mantra is, "We Invest in People".  Sam and his wife then moved onto create the Malouf Foundation - a public charity that helps create awareness in Human Sex Trafficking.  They focus specifically on kids.  They work with the healing process of the survivors as well as the justice side of things.  Alan asks Sam, "What valuable lessons have your learned as an Entrepreneur?  Sam replies, besides investing in people, encouraging their ideas, passion, criticism, and creativity is the essence.  Trusting and empowering people along with hard work and never giving up. Up next is Austin McGhie - Author of Find Your Difference, Challenging Conformity in Business and in Life.  Austin says there isn't a lot of science behind marketing.  There's lot of tracking and measuring, just not a lot of science beneath it.  Alan asks what it is that he teaches in his books?  Austin says, business at the end of the day is marketing.  Marketing is about positioning, and positioning is about difference.  Brands and businesses are built through differences.  What is the "secret sauce" in marketing? You want facts and figures.  You build your mountain of information.  Then make that intuitive leap off. But the real secret is imagination.  Austin shares why his book is split into three sections.  The first section explains how important difference is.  The second is a question, Why are you so afraid of difference? And lastly, How do you go about being different in marketing and in business.  Alan asks why the word "Life" is on his book dealing with business.  Austin explains that there is a lot to be done to encourage people who are different to be different.  To celebrate difference and not to conform, to embrace things in life that are different. Alan is accompanied by Christian Schauf - Founder and CEO of Uncharted Supply Co - and they talk about how 17% of all small businesses in America are closed for good, because of the pandemic. Alan is seeing survival prepping meals at multiple stores right now, because people want to be prepared for a worse case scenario. Christian goes onto talk about how when he moved from Wisconsin to California he noticed that whole towns would shut down for 2 inches of snow and it made him think about what would happen during an actual emergency situation. Christian then started his company so that others would always have the supplies they need and be prepared incase of emergencies. Christian talks about how 90% of the time a crisis is resolved in 72 hours, so he resolved to make a kit to get you through that amount of time with detailed instructions on what to do. They talk about how everyone needs to have an emergency plan in place, like the 72 hour survival kit. We can’t wait until something happens and then try and get supplies. They talk about how being an entrepreneur is liking trying to survive and not knowing if you are going to be ok or not. Entrepreneurs need to always be looking ahead and be prepared for emergencies. Alan continues his day with Kevin Shulman - A Certified Sandler trainer and author of Goal Setting Book Camp - They talk about how it is the height of goal setting season right now because this is the time of the year where we reflect on the year that is ending, what we have and have not accomplished, and we start to think about what we would like to do next year. Kevin talks about seeing restaurants, almost overnight, shift from being dining only to take out only. This immediate shift is what saved companies and the ones who didn’t went under. Alan talks about having a gym and since he can’t have it open, he is going to build some apartments out of it. Kevin says that you have to be willing to pivot with your business or else you will get stuck. Alan says that sometimes you have to stop keeping score, but Kevin says that it’s not worth playing if you aren’t keeping score. Kevin talks about how every person in a company knows exactly where they stand and who is doing better than them.  Kevin believes that goal setting is serious business, it’s not something to do casually. Most people spend more time planning a two week vacation than they do the rest of their lives. When you don’t spend a lot of time planning out a goal, it usually doesn’t get accomplished. Goals should be written down. Nothing feels better when you write down some goals and then achieve them. LinkedIn did a survey and 84% of those surveyed said that they feel there is stigma around being unemployed and ⅔ of them think that stigma is impacting them getting hired to a new job. They talk about how LinkedIn is a great source for finding mentors who can help you find the job you are looking for or help you overcome some problem you are having with your company. Alan has a visit with Craig Greiwe - Craig says that social media is really just an advertising platform and is bad for you, so just delete it. You think you are on there to reconnect with an old friend or family member, but the site is just using them to be able to show you advertisements. They talk about how ads used to be high quality, generalized ads, but now they are using shock trooper tactics to get you to click on the ad. We could have a lot better content on these sites, if we were able to focus on exactly what people want. There is too much content out there right now and it clutters up target advertising. Craig talks about how investing in your house isn’t a good financial plan anymore. You should be investing your money in the stock market instead of your house. We need social media platforms that aren’t driven by making money off of advertising. We also need to restrict access so that way it is full of just people. Craig says that companies need to be careful who they politically support and to make sure that they promote good qualities over a specific group. Alan thinks it’s a slippery slope when companies support politicians.  Alan is graced once again with Ruth King - President of Business Ventures Corporation and author of Profit or Wealth. They talk about how to deal with mean bosses. Sometimes you need to adjust your career and find a place where you will thrive. Ruth says that if a boss yells or is angry towards employees that they are then going to act the same way to customers. Don’t publicly chew someone out and don’t blame a whole group of people for one person’s mistake.  Alan says that being yelled at can cause you to have some PTSD, so it should not be allowed in the workplace. Bad bosses think that you should be able to read their minds. Good bosses write down policies and procedures, so that way there can be no confusion. He says that sometimes you just have to walk away from an angry boss.  Ruth suggest that before you fire an employee you should give them a career adjustment program as an option. Sometimes bosses yell at you because they are simply having a bad day. The next day, after your boss has calmed down, you can talk to them about what happened.   [00:00:00] Social Media is Bad for You Says Craig Greiwe [00:05:16] Shock Tactics Get Your Attention [00:11:32] Who You Support Politically is a Slipper Slope [00:18:22] Career Adjustment with Ruth King [00:26:10] Bad Bosses vs Good Bosses [00:33:24] Career Adjustment or Let Them Go? Join Alan as he catches up with Joe Jackman - Founder and CEO of Jackman, author of The Reinventionist Mindset. They talk about how the world is changing faster than ever before and some companies aren’t able to make changes to keep up.  Joe says companies need to be able to reinvent themselves if needed, but this doesn’t mean start from scratch. Change is hard but irrelevance is a lot harder. Joe goes on to says that you need to create the future now.  Clint Padgett - CEO of Project Success Inc. talks about working his way up through the company and then buying the company and making himself the President of it.  He goes on to say he'd given up until he heard a song that inspired him to try one more time to try for a loan and he did. Clint says he may not be the smartest guy in the room but he is always the hardest working. They talk about how people don’t often communicate with each other effectively and how it’s even harder now that so many people are working remotely. Clint believes communication through conversation is very important in order to get your message across clearly. Small conversations that happen around a water cooler are a thing of the past.  We give ourselves credit for our good intentions, and others judge us by our results.
