If you're not producing video for social media, now might be the time to get started. At least according to online marketing expert and Entrepreneur.com contributor Jayson DeMers.

In his recent article, "5 Social Media Trends Every Entrepreneur Needs to Know," DeMers outlines five trends he thinks are going to be big this year. He touches on everything from brands getting more serious about Google+ to the surge of visual content.

In this video, DeMers expands on the concept of visual content and its popularity, positing that online video -- in long form and short "micro" form -- will play an even larger role in brand marketing this year.

"I have seen brands use video and micro video to tremedous advantage, to put out content that is very shareable and very popular with social audiences on Facebook, Twitter and Google+", DeMers says. "When executed well, micro video is a very effective [marketing] tactic."
