School Says - Academics
McCallum Graduate School of Business offers a wealth of "people" resources: nationally recognized faculty and staff advisers whose support and guidance help students reach their full potential. Bentley professors pursue a rigorous agenda of scholarship and applied research. Support from corporations, government organizations, private foundations and individuals helps fuel leading-edge research at Bentley and enables us to build and maintain the technology-rich facilities -- including the Design and Usability Center, financial Trading Room, Center for Marketing Technology, Accounting Center for Electronic Learning and Business Measurement, and Center for Languages and International Collaboration - that bolster research and enhance the quality of education at Bentley. Most classes incorporate projects and assignments that make use of the specialized software available in these facilities, allowing students to apply concepts learned in class. The centers and labs - all among the first of their kind in higher education - feature the same high-end hardware and software that businesses use. Many of the labs benefit the corporate community as well, offering consulting and employee education.

Students Say - Academics
With both "one of the most technologically advanced schools" in the country and "the ability to combine technology and people to create a phenomenal learning environment," The McCallum MBA program at Bentley University "has done a good job of creating a niche for itself in the Boston-area business-school environment." This predominantly part-time program boasts "amazing facilities" and strength in a number of technology-related and technology-assisted disciplines.
High-tech perks are what first catch prospective MBAs' attention here and for good reason. Bentley's resources include "an awesome trading center," a 3,500-square-foot facility complete with a trading floor with two Trans-Lux data walls, 60 work stations, an adjacent business suite, and a marketing center that features numerous state-of-the-art research and analysis labs. Bentley "blows other schools' facilities away," one student assures us. Also available are "top-notch centers to serve students in accounting, information technology, and cyberlaw; and a library that recently received a $17 million makeover. The library is "ideal for group projects, with its dozens of collaboration rooms, which can be reserved electronically and are equipped with LCD monitors, white boards, conference tables etc."
Bentley puts those facilities to excellent use in such diverse fields as marketing technology, finance, accounting, and information technology. In these areas especially, Bentley has an "excellent reputation that provides the best in career opportunities." The school also offers both MBA and a concentration in real estate management ("It offers Argus training for real estate"), and is "a leader in the field of human-computer interaction." Professors here "are presently involved in the Boston business community" and so transport "actual experience in the business world" to the classroom. "They bring creative approaches to challenge students in the classroom," although incoming students should also note that "most are hard-asses, but [the workload] really prepares you for the real world." Bentley "keeps the classes small, allowing for individual attention when needed." One student says, "I really didn't want any auditorium-style classes." Students also love the "flexibility in terms of scheduling, which makes it possible to take two courses a night after work if you need to." Ultimately, though, it's "Bentley's eagerness to set the bar for education in business/IT integration" that sets the school apart from the crowd.
Students Say - Admissions
Applicants to the Bentley MBA program must submit all of the following materials to the Admissions Committee: a completed application form; official copies of all transcripts for all post secondary academic work; an official GMAT score report; two letters of recommendation; three essays (topics detailed in application); and a resume. Applicants to the full-time, daytime MBA program or the MS plus MBA program must sit for an interview; interviews are optional for all other applicants. In addition to all of the above, international applicants must also submit an international student data form and confirmation of financial resources; a copy of their passport name page, and TOEFL score. International applicants are strongly encouraged to use a transcript evaluation service. Bentley Admissions Officers pride themselves on personalizing the admissions process by looking at the whole person when making admissions decisions. Work experience is strongly preferred but not required.
Students Say - Campus Life
Full-time MBA students describe a full grad school experience, one buttressed by lots of group work, meetings, and events held by graduate student associations, and such on-campus amenities as numerous food options and "an excellent gym with flat-screen LCDs to watch while [working out] on the cardio machines." Students tell us that "there are tons of activities" in the Bentley community, but note that "it is also true that those activities and clubs are targeted to full-time students. For those who work 9 to 5, it is impossible to get involved in events." Full-timers and part-timers alike agree that "the campus is absolutely gorgeous, and it's great that it's completely wireless."
Full-time students also enjoy being a part of "a tight-knit group," which, in part, begins because they participate in a cohort program. "We spend a lot of time together, for better or worse. It's great for building tight bonds, but it's a little harder to meet people outside of that group." MBAs report that "students appear happy here. There is lots of mingling in between classes, and it appears people genuinely like meeting new people." One student adds, "The different backgrounds and experiences of my classmates really add a lot of value to class time."
Students Say - Careers
Bentley's Nathan R. Miller Center for Career Services (CCS) "is excellent" at serving the school's MBA students, who tell us that "everyone...is personally involved in helping you out." Counselors receive a strong assist from Bentley's solid "reputation among Boston-area employers." Students here benefit from the Career Management Series (CMS), a program designed to help them better position themselves in the battle for top jobs. CMS programs vary by area of concentration, meaning students receive plenty of field-specific assistance. The CSS provides lifetime service to alumni, another huge plus.
Top employers of Bentley MBAs include: Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Raytheon, Staples, State Street, Liberty Mutual, PepsiCo, PricewaterhouseCoopers, GE, Yankee Group, BearingPoint, Thermo Electron, Yahoo!, EMC, Fidelity, and Tyco.
