School Says - General Information
At the Neeley School, we bring together highly motivated professionals and exceptional faculty in a personalized, interactive environment. Neeley is one of an elite group of accredited business schools to offer a 12-Month Accelerated MBA degree along with the two-year Full-Time MBA. Learning here goes beyond the classroom, to hands-on experiences that impact the bottom line. Our students stay on top of the quickly changing business environment through frequent and meaningful interaction with business leaders. Our commitment to you is an experience that is personal, connected, and real.
The Programs
At Neeley, we make sure that our MBA isnÂ't a Â"one-size-fits-allÂ" program. We understand that students have different backgrounds and career goals, and have crafted options to best meet your needs.
- The 12-Month Accelerated MBA is targeted to individuals with significant academic and professional background in business who are looking to move forward within their career field. This option allows you to build upon your business background and focus your coursework on your specific career interest. The Accelerated MBA provides the benefits of a full-time MBA without an extended absence from the job market and with less impact on your financial, career and personal life.
- If you are planning to make a broader career change, the comprehensive two-year Full-Time MBA programs allows you to explore career options and add new experiences to your resume. Whether your degree is in business, engineering or ballet, the Full-Time MBA gives you the academic background, practical experience, professionals development, career coaching and networking opportunities you need to position yourself for your next career move.
What you learn.
A Neeley MBA taps into your existing strengths and shores up your shortcomings to create an extraordinary skill set. Not a cookie-cutter skill set, but a dynamic package of hard and soft skills, analytical and intangible assets that represent the best of you. You learn how to make insightful decisions in a world of perpetual change, and how to communicate, collaborate, and lead diverse groups to turn those decisions into action.
How you learn.
Not only do you work day-to-day with faculty who are recognized leaders in their fields, you put that knowledge to work outside the classroom. We call it Experiential Learning, and itÂ's based on real-world experiences that recruiters tell us they look for when filling top positions. You do real work for real clients with real life challenges. Combine all of that with high profile internships, interaction with leading executives and international business trips. ItÂ's only natural to think outside the box when you donÂ't spend all your time inside of one.
Personal
WeÂ're small by design at Neeley, so the lessons you learn here will reach much farther than the glow of a PowerPoint presentation in a two hundred-seat lecture hall. Not only will you know your professors Ââ€" youÂ'll also come to know that these are the very people improving and transforming business in the real world. The same holds true for the hundreds of business executives who visit here. You can discuss ideas in actual conversations with c-level executives Ââ€" not just sit in the same room with them.
Connected
Neeley is right at home in the thriving Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Literally hundreds of big name businesses are located here, and more are coming every day. But we donÂ't stop there. With international trips (Chile, Italy, Germany, China, and India are some of the places we visit), you gain insight into just how the business world is intricately connected. You learn to spot new opportunities in unexpected places, and to value new insights and old customs.

Students Say - Academics
Students at Texas Christian University's M.J. Neeley School of Business have at least four MBA degree programs to choose from. There's the full-time program, in which students generally attend day classes and which requires 54 credit hours to complete, and the evening or professional MBA, which requires students to attend class 2 nights a week for 48 credit hours. For those who hold a bachelor's degree in business, there is an accelerated MBA option requiring just 36 credits, and for students who have substantial work experience TCU offers an executive MBA option with classes meeting on Fridays and Saturdays. Joint-degrees in education and physics are also offered, along with a 2-year master's program in international management. Citing "the value of their education versus the cost," students laud the breadth of academic options offered and note that TCU has "great resources to customize programs to individual needs."
The core MBA curriculum focuses on both strategic and analytical management skills, with managing financial resources, managing people, and market-driven strategy among the topics covered. Integrative team projects that combine the skills learned in these classes are required, and about 20 credit hours are available for concentrations and electives which may include work at the school's centers for excellence in leadership, supply chain management, professional communication, and capital management. Study abroad opportunities are also offered in Germany, Mexico, Italy, and Chile. Overall, students say "The first-year experience is great," but some students feel "The second year has left a lot to be desired." "If the first year can be described as having a lot of overlap and being tightly integrated, the second year is sort of anarchic." "A lot of the courses like global strategy, ethics, [and] information technology strategy are almost complete jokes. The school just does not put forward the best or right professors to teach these courses at a graduate level."
Throughout the curriculum, "a great deal of emphasis is placed on real-world experience. Consulting projects are offered and students are encouraged or required to participate. And the faculty is generally flexible to accommodate your work schedule if you decide to work an internship during the academic year." In fact, most students find that "the M.J. Neeley School staff and faculty are helpful, willing, energetic, smart people who enjoy students' questions." Neeley's "excellent" professors "are easily accessible and are eager to help you achieve your goals." As one student says, "The faculty places many challenges before us." Students also laud the "great administration" for being "very helpful and interested in your individual success and experience." Both faculty and staff "[show] so much care toward each student to make sure his/her experience is fulfilling."
Students Say - Admissions
GMAT scores, undergraduate GPA, personal statements, letters of recommendation, a resume, and TOEFL scores for students whose native language is not English are all required to apply for admission at TCU. According to the school's website, TCU looks for "a history of setting and achieving challenging goals in every aspect of your life" when making admissions decisions. In 2006, accepted students have an average GMAT score of 610 with an average GPA of 3.16, plus 5 years of work experience. Those pursuing the executive MBA option had an average of 16 years of work experience.
Students Say - Campus Life
Students say that Neeley has the "best facilities in the area," a "beautiful" campus, and "easy" parking, all of which complement campus life. Student opinion about their classmates is split, with some students describing the vibe on campus as a "very friendly, good, team-based atmosphere" with "classmates [who are] more like family. We all look out for each other." Other students observe "young, immature, bright, resilient party people with a strong 'beer factor'" who are "inexperienced in team environments." One student remarks that most of his classmates "are looking for a piece of paper with three letters on it: MBA. There is definitely a lack of effort overall." While most students agree that "the top students are extremely motivated and intelligent," they also observe that "there is a steep decline after the top 25 percent in terms of work ethic and intellectual capability." Unsurprisingly, then, "getting better MBA candidates" was an area cited as being in need of improvement by many. Academic differences notwithstanding, campus life and life in Fort Worth in general, garnered praise from students across the board. Dallas/Fort Worth is "very fun, [with] lots of activities for all students. Good athletic events, churches, and nightlife. [There] something for everyone," students agreed.
Students Say - Careers
Neeley's location in the heart of Fort Worth, close to the center of the vibrant Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, is an asset students value when it comes time to launch their post-MBA job search. The school does its part too, with "an excellent Career Services" staff available for individual consultations and access to a database of job openings for MBAs online. The Career Center also conducts targeted career management seminars on topics such as networking, writing a cover letter, developing leadership skills, and the like. The Career Services staff is "very helpful and interested in your individual success and experience," students say. These "supportive and helpful Career Counselors," along with a good reputation among area businesses, are a formidable combination when it comes to job placement. Sabre Holdings, Frito Lay, PepsiCo., Alcan Labs, and Goldman Sachs are among those who hire TCU graduates.
