The China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is a not-for-profit, 50-50 joint venture established in November 1994 under an agreement between MOFTEC and the European Commission with funding from the European Union and Shanghai Municipal Government.Its joint venture partners are the European Foundation for Management Development (efmd) and Shanghai Jiaotong University.The school has its main campus in Shanghai, a representative office in Beijing, and a liaison office in Shenzhen. CEIBS is a business school of international calibre and the first one to offer a full-time MBA programme, an Executive MBA programme, and a wide array of Executive Education programmes in Mainland China. In its first eight years, CEIBS has become the leading business school in China. School Says - Academics
At CEIBS, our aim is to provide students with the necessary skills to be a global business leader with our 17-month intensive full-time program. The curriculum consists of 18 core units and 8 elective units. The BASIC FUNCTIONS. The first phase of the programme consists of 15 core units to provide our students with the basic management skills with an understanding of various business functions of an organization. Subject includes major disciplines such as financial management, economics, statistics, human resource management, organizational behaviour, marketing management, information technology, commercial law and business ethics. The ADVANCEMENT MODULES. The second phase consists of two blocks of diverse electives that permits our students to tailor make the MBA programme according to their interest and career goals and the opportunity to understand the interdependence between each functional areas of a business organization through utilizing the skills acquired in phrase one of the programme. FINAL INTEGRATION. In the final phase of the curriculum, our students will undertake 4 final units that encompass skills gained throughout the last 14 months of the academic schedule. Our student will have the opportunity to participate in an intense and hands-on business simulation programme developed internally by CEIBS.
School Says - Admissions
The CEIBS MBA admission process is highly competitive as places are limited to only 124 seats per incoming class. To keep the high quality of CEIBS MBA Program, all candidates are expected to meet the following requirements: A bachelor's degree or its equivalent. At minimum of two years full-time work experience. A balanced GMAT score. Successful applicants usually score in excess of 600. Proficiency in English. TOEFL or IELTS is recommended to applicants whose native language is not English Admission Stages and Deadlines Application for entry into the June 2004 class is based on the stage admission system. You should manage your time carefully to make sure that you have collected all your necessary information prior to submitting your application. The admissions process will only begin when you submit a complete portfolio of documents for evaluation. The application deadline for 2004 class for prospective mainland candidates is January 25, 2004, the deadline for international applicants is February 29, 2004. As the programme is highly competitive in nature, applicants are encouraged to apply in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd stages. Spaces offered in the 4th and 5th stage are likely to be limited.Please go to CEIBS' web site for details about application stages. Application From 2003, two channels will be offered to all applicants to apply for CEIBS MBA Program. One is to fill out the paper application form and the other is to complete the CEIBS online application form (www.ceibs.edu/mba/onlineapp.html). No any preference will be given to applicant using either paper application form or online application form.

Occupying a site of four hectares, the CEIBS campus in Pudong, Shanghai, was designed by the internationally renowned Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. The campus is both very modern, while at the same time providing an aesthetic setting for reflection and study. Academic Center The three-level Academic Centre is surrounded by a paved and landscaped courtyard. This facility houses six lecture theatres, twelve discussion rooms, three lecture rooms, and dozens of faculty and administration offices. All lecture theatres and rooms facilitate participation, discussion, and debate. There are also ample discussion rooms next to lecture theatres for case discussion. Auditorium Immediately adjacent to the Academic Centre is our 317 tiered-seated Shanghai Petrochemical Auditorium. Equipped with a wireless system of simultaneous interpretation, the Auditorium provides an ideal venue for large-scale activities involving an international audience. Global Source Information Centre (Library) The Global Sources Information Centre provides more than 2,000 electronic journals and databases covering every aspect of business and management, in addition to the traditional printed books and journals. E-databases include UMIs business and management journals, Dow Jones business news, China business information from EIU and ISI, Wanfang company directory, OCLC union catalogue of around 35,000 world-wide libraries, etc. Dormitory There are a total of 130 units in the two dormitories that provide a total capacity for 260 students. However, a number of new dormitories are currently under construction. Every unit is equipped with a telephone, a computer connection, satellite TV hook-ups and a private bathroom. Phase II Development Doubling Shanghai campus capacities, the construction of Phase II will be finished by the end of 2003. It includes two Academic Centres, one Student Centre, one Gymnasium, two Student Dormitories and one Faculty Residence.
