You're reading Entrepreneur Middle East, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media.
Staged in partnership with du, Against All Odds is an Entrepreneur Middle East Live webinar series that features enterprising women who have risen above personal and professional challenges to develop solutions, launch businesses, and lead global initiatives that make them inspirational role models around the world.
This edition of Against All Odds features Donna Benton, perhaps best known for being the founder of The Entertainer (a business that she fully exited in September 2020), who is today the entrepreneur behind Caha Capo, a Dubai-based international swimwear label, and The Benton Group (TBG), a holding company for her different business interests.
In a conversation with Entrepreneur Middle East Managing Editor Tamara Pupic, Benton touched upon a variety of topics, including the need for gender equality in the business world. "It's a shame on us because it is all still perceived as a men's world," she said. "However, women multitask so well, we get things done, we are agile, and therefore, women are really good in the workplace."

"It's also important that women support other women," Benton added. "Why do women put other women down? No, do support other women, be there for them, because we all know what it's like. Another important thing is that women who have had children really lack confidence to go back to work. Women are very confidence-driven, and in this case, they often feel as if they are not good enough. So, women should not lose their confidence. Lastly, women generally don't have big egos, and with all the male egos in any boardroom, it's always good to have [at least] one woman to break that up. [In each of these cases,] women need to know that they have to believe in themselves. You can do it!"
