STUART ODA, FOUNDER AND CEO, ALESCA TECHNOLOGIES

Alesca's vision is to democratize access to fresh and nutritious food by democratizing the means and knowledge of production. Its mission is to develop a hardware, software, and data ecosystem to enable anyone anywhere to grow safe, nutritious, fresh produce in their own communities. In order to accomplish this, the company has developed patented turnkey vertical farms, operational management software, artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled internet of things (IoT) devices, multi-spectral cameras, and computer vision platforms to grow over 100 varieties of fresh produce, flowers, and fruit saplings using 90-99% less water, fertilizer, and land compared to traditional farms, with no need for chemical pesticides or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Alesca is a true system innovator that has developed all core technology in-house, and it has built one of the most robust hardware and electronic supply chains in the global agritech sector.

  • FOUNDED IN: 2013
  • SECTOR: AGRITECH

"Alesca has localized key agritech research and development and manufacturing capabilities in the UAE. For Aramco's flagship vertical farming project in Dammam, Alesca manufactured the modular structures in Ajman, assembled the indoor growing systems in Dubai, and completed the installation and commissioning in Saudi Arabia. Alesca is also partnering with major real estate developers (Emaar, Aldar, Sustainable City, Masdar City, Expo City) in the UAE to grow fresh produce directly in residential communities and commercial properties to significantly reduce logistical miles, food waste, and resource use."
