RiseUp Summit 2016, an annual event that brings together the region's entrepreneurship community in Egypt, will be held in Cairo on December 9-11, 2016. With a mission to connect startups to business resources, the Summit provides a platform for stakeholders to share their experiences of growing a business, offer support and learn more about the region's business ecosystem. Having been launched in 2013, the event is now a global congregation that expects to host over 4000 attendees and 90 exhibitors, and is supported by 110 partners for this year's edition. On the agenda is workshops, talks, and panel discussions across tracks/topics such as clean tech, creative economy, fintech, science & technology and others. Held as a two-day event last year, the organizers have also added an additional day to the Summit this year.

Besides the talks, RiseUp Summit 2016 will also host startup stations (exhibits), pitch competitions, and networking sessions with industry experts. The competitions include the Microsoft Startup Competition, which will evaluate teams on their ability to develop an app to solve a social problem, and IBM's Smartcamp Competition, a local pitch contest to win a chance to attend the global IBM Pitch Competition and earn a spot in their incubator. The speaker line up for the Summit includes Sharif El-Badawi, Partner, 500 Startups, Kinda Ibrahim, Director, Media Partnerships MENA at Twitter, Omar Samra, Founder, Wild Guanabana, and others. The event is supported by partners such as 1864 Accelerator, Endeavor Egypt, and PayFort among others.
